Gunkanjima...
...is an island off the coast of Nagasaki, and is an abandoned coal mine island. It's an island, only it seems to have been built up so much that it seems like a giant fortress in the sea, or some form for massive battleship. It was abandoned in the 80's, and so provides a furtile ground for photographers interested in this special place. One such photographer is to be found here.
